Time to complete a PhD by discipline: what's striking is that less than half (41%) of social science PhD students take 7 yrs or less.



The same report, compiled by Council of Graduate Schools and the ETS, proposes "a new cross-agency doctoral training initiative that would finance the educations of an additional 25,000 students annually at a cost of $10 billion over 5 years".
